From my collection

These are a few favorite art show flyers and posters from my personal collection. The Keep will include a curated stack in each quarterly issue, along with some surprises.

If you'll be printing a flyer, poster, card or other piece of awesome ephemera for an art show, or you have some amazing back stock, please feel free to reach out.

Tap any piece to see it big.

The Keep is a new quarterly collection of art show ephemera, sent by mail. Every issue holds at least 20 pieces: the flyers, postcards and posters galleries print to get people through the door, plus anything else that turns up flat enough to fit.

Show promo is literally dated and meant to be temporary, but art fans know that some exhibits become legend. It's a tangible record of who was shown, where, and when, and the design is the promise. I've kept many of mine since the aughts—even from shows I didn’t attend because of the art, artist, or cultural impact. The Keep will share promo pieces for prominent artists, cult favorites, and fresh discoveries four times a year.

Art show announcement cards and posters spread on a chair: Shepard Fairey's framed Rise Above poster, Camille Rose Garcia's Death Clash, Flood the Gutters, Michael Jang's California, with dozens of gallery postcards behind.
Art show cards and posters from my collection: Shepard Fairey at Merry Karnowsky, Camille Rose Garcia at Jonathan LeVine, Andrew Schoultz at Marx & Zavattero, Michael Jang at McEvoy, and a wall of gallery postcards.
Gig posters laid out on a wood floor: Fugazi, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Sword, The Jesus Lizard, Elliott Smith, Bob Mould, TWRP, Alt-J, with a row of club flyers below.
And the music side: Fugazi with Kicking Giant (ticket included), Neutral Milk Hotel, The Sword, The Jesus Lizard, Elliott Smith at the Fillmore, and a stack of SF club flyers.

What goes in

  • Art show flyers, postcards and announcement cards
  • Exhibition posters, and gig posters too. A great concert poster belongs here as much as a gallery one
  • Stickers, photographs, prints, ticket stubs
  • Anything flat. Really, anything.

Each issue is packaged differently, and so is the name: the keep, THE KEEP, The Keep, The KEEP.

For galleries and artists

If your show has promo left over, or you're printing it anyway, The Keep would love a stack. In return:

  • Your show lands in the hands of people who keep paper, not just scroll past it.
  • Every piece is credited: artist, show, gallery and dates.
  • Contributing shows are listed on Miasma and featured on Instagram at @miasma_artshows.

Get in touch. I'd love to hear from you.
